These programs provide structured exercise, education, and monitoring tailored to the individual’s condition. Busy people can use shorter activity sessions or alternate moderate periods with brief, carefully controlled increases in effort, provided their healthcare professional considers this appropriate.

Anyone with diagnosed CHD, significant risk factors, or a long period of inactivity should discuss a new exercise program with a healthcare professional before increasing intensity. Medical advice is especially important when symptoms are changing or blood pressure is not well controlled.

Start with an intensity and duration that feel manageable, then increase gradually as tolerance improves. A simple guide is to add time or effort in small steps rather than making several major changes at once.
